• Do not dig at manure; pick from surface. Avoid exposing urine spot.

• Exposed urine spots that aren’t ready to be removed should be covered with bedding and stomped down to assist the pack.

• Try to keep hay and feed out of the bedding. It shortens the effectiveness of the hurd. Hay nets or cages to keep hay off the ground can be helpful.

• Box walkers should get a deeper bed! keep them from mixing in the wet spots and manure. If you short their bed the system breaks down faster. Using more material in the beginning does pay off.
